About Woodlands Rest Home

A dedicated, caring and professional team

At Woodlands we pride ourselves in having a team of dedicated, professional and caring staff who are passionate about providing the best possible standards for all our residents while meeting their needs in an understanding and friendly manner.

Joe and Linda Leggett have owned Woodlands for more than 20 years and are constantly seeking ways to improve the lives of their residents in whatever areas they can. Both Joe and Linda spend a great deal of time at the Home and are happy to discuss any concerns that the residents may have.

Yvonne Moore has worked at Woodlands since 1991 and she is now the Home’s Registered Manager. She is very highly qualified for the role which involves responsibility for the day-to-day running of Woodlands and is ably assisted by an administrator and a dedicated team of carers and ancillary staff.

Kirsty, our Deputy Manager, has been at Woodlands since 2004 and she is a greatly valued and professional member of the team.

Keith is our full time maintenance engineer whose job it is to attend to the upkeep of the Home. A building as large as Woodlands requires a great deal of care and attention to keep it in tip-top condition. Keith also tends to the Home’s extensive grounds and gardens with the help of contractors and some enthusiastic residents.

We have a dedicated Catering Team who are responsible for preparing the delicious meals and snacks that our residents enjoy every day. There is always a choice of menu and our meals are prepared on site. Special diets and individual preferences are all in a day’s work for the catering team.

These are just some of the people who make Woodlands Rest Home the happy and safe environment so much loved by our residents and friends.

Impressive architecture and pleasant grounds

The buildings and surrounding land at Woodlands offers the best of care in a magnificent setting.

The character of this grand Victorian house, once the property of world-renowned physicist and Nobel Prize winner Sir Ernest Rutherford, has been preserved while being suitably modernised to provide the pleasant and safe environment necessary for its residents. Extensive and sympathetic refurbishments have been carried out over the years but its splendour remains impressive.

The grounds, which include our own greenhouse, consist of some three and a half acres of lawns, shrubbery and established trees. There are also many small nooks and crannies where residents can enjoy a peaceful summer’s day surrounded by the varied local bird life, squirrels and other natural delights.
